What is a Brute Force Attack?

Brute Force Attack

A brute force attack is a method used to gain unauthorised access by systematically guessing every possible combination of passwords or encryption keys until the correct one is found.

This method can be effective but is often time-consuming, depending on the complexity of the target password. Brute force attacks are typically used against poorly secured accounts that use weak or common passwords.

To defend against brute force attacks, organisations can implement account lockout policies, rate limiting, and multi-factor authentication.
