What is Confidentiality?

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is one of the three core principles of the CIA Triad in information security (Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability). It ensures that sensitive information is accessible only to authorised users and systems.

Protecting confidentiality involves implementing encryption, access controls, and data masking techniques to prevent unauthorised disclosure. A breach of confidentiality can lead to data leaks, exposure of personal information, and reputational damage for an organisation.

Strategies like using strong authentication and least privilege principles are commonly employed to maintain confidentiality.
