What is Red Teaming?

Red Teaming
Red Teaming is a security exercise in which a group of skilled cybersecurity professionals, known as the Red Team, simulates a real-world cyberattack to test an organisation’s defenses.
The goal is to evaluate how well the organisation's security measures can withstand a full-scale attack, including identifying vulnerabilities, testing incident response procedures, and understanding how effectively the organisation can detect, respond to, and recover from an attack.
Red teaming goes beyond traditional penetration testing by focusing on the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) that real attackers might use. It often involves long-term, stealthy attacks that mimic sophisticated adversaries, such as nation-state actors or cybercriminal organisations.
The counterpart, known as the Blue Team, represents the organisation’s internal security defenders. Together, Red Teaming exercises help uncover weaknesses and improve overall resilience.
